"A BIT OF HUMOR"

― After watching a Star Wars movie our friend said to his Lutheran buddy, "May the Force be with you!"  The

     good Lutheran responded, "And also with you."

― You know you are a Minnesotan when it takes 10 minutes to say goodbye.

       A woman invited her Bible study group to dinner.  At the table she turned to her six-year-old daughter

      and  said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"

          "I wouldn't know what to say," the little girl replied.

          "Just say what you hear Mommy say,"  the mother said.

          The little girl bowed her head and said "Dear Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

A PRAYER CONCERN:                 Each night, 2500 youth in Minnesota are homeless.  (Lutheran Social Services of                                                                                                                                    Minnesota.)
  CONGREGATIONAL SUPPORT REQUEST

            Salem Lutheran Church has received a request from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to continue support for Micah Pearson, a member of our congregation who is in his second year at Luther Seminary in preparation for ordained ministry.   All congregations of the church are encouraged to support their members who are preparing for ordained ministry.

            On August 11, 2011, the Church Council voted to continue the support of Micah Pearson during his education through regular communication, prayer, fellowship, leadership and worship opportunities and Salem's Theological Ministry Fund.

            If you wish to make a monetary donation to Salem's Theological Ministry Fund, please do so by placing it in the offering plate.  Checks can be made out to "Salem Lutheran Church."  Please indicate in the memo line that you desire your donation to go to "Salem's Theological Ministry Fund."  This fund is available to any member of the congregation that attends Seminary.  (To date, in 2011 Salem's Theological Ministry

Fund = $255.)
